SEVP released its final policy guidance for English Language Training road map in the US, providing educators with a manual of the steps needed for pathway programme certification.
The SEVP is many focused on programmes that offer English language preparation as part of their structured course to full-time degree studies.
Moving forward, SEVP will formally certify all pathway programmes in the United States and each must offer guaranteed admission to degree study for all enrolled students that have successfully completed their preparatory requirements. The SEVP also states that each pathway programme must integrate for-credit academic coursework. In order to issue the Form 1-20s, a requisite for international prospective students to acquire a study visa in the US, the SEVP requires that each pathway must receive the SEVIS certification.
For Institutions or Schools Offering the Pathway
Providers must “verify that the degree programme is offered by an accredited institution of higher learning and:
“verify that the English language course provider is accredited by a US Department of Education-recognised accrediting agency as outlined in the Accreditation of English Language Training Programs Act.”
